Dental Sedation: A Tool to Help Wash Dental Fears Away

Are you afraid of sitting in the dental chair? If so, you might have dental anxiety. However, there is no need to fear. You’re not alone. Dental anxiety is a real psychological condition that many people suffer with. So, to help you get through your appointment with ease and comfort, our Premier Dentistry of Eagle dental team is happy to offer nitrous oxide and oral sedation at our office.

Nitrous oxide sedation is a light, flavored gas that is released from a small mask that is placed over your nose. All you need to do is inhale through your nose. After inhaling deeply for a few minutes, you will feel relaxed, light headed, and a bit tingly.

Oral sedation is a pill you take prior to your appointment. The effects are similar to Valium. When you take the pill, you will feel a bit drowsy and groggy. Depending on the dose given to you, you might even fall asleep during your treatment. If you fall asleep, Dr. Shane S. Porter will be able to wake you with a gentle shake.

If you choose to use one of these dental sedatives in Eagle, Idaho, you can finally feel more relaxed and comfortable in the dental chair. However, if you’re afraid to use sedation, please call our office at (208) 546-0655 and ask our dental team for tips on how to relieve dental anxiety. We are here to help you in any way we can, and we look forward to hearing from you!
