Improve Your Smile Before Taking Your Senior Pictures

smile for senior pictures

Are there things about your smile that you want to improve before your senior pictures are taken? High school seniors should be thinking about getting their senior pictures taken, and if you are a junior in high school, it’s not too early to plan for this special once-in-a-lifetime event.  After all, the photos in your yearbook will become part of history and you want to look your very best for generations to come!

Now is the time to make an appointment to see Dr. Shane S. Porter of Premier Dentistry of Eagle before you have your photo shoot! There are several ways Dr. Porter can address the aesthetics of a less-than-perfect smile. If you have crooked teeth, gaps between your teeth, or yellowing teeth that make you self-conscious, contact Dr. Porter for a consultation to see what needs to be done to improve your smile. He can cosmetically repair your teeth in his Eagle, Idaho dental office, whether it be with Invisalign® teeth aligners, dental veneers to repair misshapen or gapped teeth, dental bonding to address dental erosion of your teeth, or Zoom! teeth whitening to have the bright smile that expresses who you are!

Invisalign® Aligners Will Straighten Your Teeth

If your teeth are crooked, Dr. Porter can straighten them using Invisalign® aligners. Traditional metal braces are not attractive and they can be painful. The Invisalign® aligners are somewhat like a plastic retainer, and they surround your teeth completely. By placing pressure on specific teeth, they gradually move them into the right position. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks before being switched for the next one in the series, and since you can do that at home, you will spend less time in the dentist office. Our teenage patients love this option because the aligners are removable. You can take them out to eat, brush your teeth, play sports, go to a school dance, or have your senior pictures taken. As long as you wear the aligners for at least 20 hours a day, your treatment will progress on schedule and you can still enjoy being a teenager without constantly worrying about being a metal mouth.

When you visit our dental office, Dr. Porter will examine you and assess how long your Invisalign® treatment will take. The average treatment is a year and a half, but it varies per individual.

Dental Veneers Can Produce a Flawless Smile

When you want a perfect smile, dental veneers might be a good option. Dental veneers are thin porcelain shells bonded to the surface of your teeth and essentially replace the outer layer of the enamel on your teeth. Once bonded in place, all you see is the veneers and not the teeth beneath them. As a result, they can be used to change the shape and size of your teeth so your smile is symmetrical. They can also close gaps between your teeth, cover dark stains, and make your teeth appear straight, even though their actual position has not changed.

Whether you are interested in correcting a single flawed tooth or you want to transform your entire smile, dental veneers may be right for you.

Dental Bonding Improves the Appearance of Your Teeth

If the deadline for your senior pictures is approaching, the fastest way to improve the appearance of your smile is with dental bonding. Unlike dental veneers, or Invisalign®, which can take more time to be completed, dental bonding can be finished in one appointment. This is a non-invasive procedure that is completed in our dental office.

When you come in for your initial consultation, we will discuss the concerns you have about your teeth and then strategize the best way to correct them. For example, if one tooth is longer than the rest, we could shave off a portion of it and use dental bonding to contour it. If your teeth are yellow or have deep stains that cannot be whitened, we can place dental bonding material on top of them to cover up the stains. We can even use bonding to close small gaps in between your teeth, to restore teeth that have been cracked or chipped, and to change their overall shape and size. Dental bonding material is incredibly versatile, and once applied to prepared teeth, we can shape it on the spot. The bonding material is then hardened with a special dental light, and you can have your senior pictures taken the next day.

Whiten Your Teeth in an Hour!

There are several factors that result in a discolored, yellow smile including smoking, soda, coffee, tea, certain foods and poor dental hygiene. Tooth whitening is a relatively simple procedure and the outcome is remarkable!  As a cosmetic and family dentist, Dr. Porter offers the latest techniques to brighten almost everyone’s smile. Zoom!® teeth whitening combines the newest advances in dental technology with proven chemical formulas. This ensures that the bleaching process is painless, and the results are nothing short of amazing. This quick and professional in-office whitening treatment can brighten your smile up to 8 shades after just one treatment!
